I took the chance to try and take some pictures now that so many of us had gathered to celebrate her.

Some of them are a bit blurry. Others were very dark, but I managed to make them usable after some tweaking in Photoshop.

I think many of us were a bit nervous at first, but that quickly passed, and we had a very nice, relaxed evening with many jokes and good humor.

Personally I think it ended way to early.

I even tried to convince grandma to lets us open up her old bottle of portwine but maybe it was for the best that we didnt get that far ? :)

Anyways. I made a little slideshow of some of the best images. I also added some music to it.

Its an old track I did for fun and I think it works well with this slideshow.

Enjoy it and take care.

Version 1.8 did not sound as it should =(

This has been corrected and perfected with the new beta release. I hope to get a new demo out asap.

Edit: Demo available now. Look here: Demo

Here is a list of what has changed since the last build:

History:

15/3-08 v.1.92

• Changed the Dry/Wet so that it is not affected by the Trim knob.

• Changed the PDR so it works better.

It now reacts a lot more to the Release/Hold Knob in PDR mode.

Much more musical. Also made it so that the Release time display

changes live when in PDR mode.

• Optimized the Detector and some other parts.

• Extended the Attack from max 300ms to 500ms and also changed the

way it was measured. The attack time is now much longer.

  Check old presets.

• Changed the Release Time slightly to a smoother scale. Also a bit faster.

• Corrected a bug that would prevent envelope times to update itself

when values changed. Pretty serious bug.

• Now the envelope works as intended and indeed sounds a lot better and

  more musical.

• Fixed a nasty bug in the Threshold Detector.

• Fine tuned the clip meters.

• Changed the Ration max from 50.0:1 to 100.0:1

• Changed the Graphics slightly to gain some loading time.

• Changed the LAH delay back to 3 ms. It is enough.

• The Input Peak meter now displays the input signal after the Trim knob.

• Changed the Trim Range

• Optimized Load time and ram usage

• Fixed another bug in the Envelope Detector that could cause some serious problems

when not using PDR and in OPTO mode.

• Fixed Denormals in the Low Cut Filter.

• Finally added the serial protection I have been working on.

Elatua will cost the same as Inerthia. 90€ / 137$ but the dollar is falling faster and faster so I have fixed the price to the Euro.

I feel truly sorry for all US citizens. Things will get pretty expensive for you guys unless a miracle saves you.

To make things a little bit sweeter I made a bundle of the two plugs. Get them both for 150€ .

Anyways. There are new versions of Inerthia and Elatua.

There is also new demo-versions to download.

     Elatua

     Inerthia

Inerthia Update History.

•Many optimizations to the various filters. It should now use much less cpu.

•Added a clip-meter that is quite accurate. It is ok if it flashes once or so but more then that and its clearly over the limit.

•Changed how the mix knob was routed.

•The LAH is now at 4 ms.

•Finally changed the smaller knobs.

•Fixed a bug were envelope times would change on higher sample-rates.

It is adjusted with a knob from VCA to Opto.

• Cleaned up a bunch of bugs in the sidechain part. v.1.66 sounded quite crappy but now its back to were it should be.

• Remade the graphics slightly to fit the new VCA-Opto knob. Also fixed the graphics around the peak meters.

• Looked hideous before and was quite misleading. I found myself trying to change the scale by clicking on the numbers.

I wasnt the only one doing that ;)

• Moved the softclip so its placed after the sidechain listen and mono switches.

• Modified the Release times slightly. I had previously added a 100 ms to release-time when in PDR mode.

This was not necessary and to be frank, I have no idea why I did that change so now its back to normal.

There is a new demo available and there is also a fully functional, no limitations, stand-alone .exe application available.

• Changed the routings a bit so that it doesnt clip when input trim is pushed to hard.

• Changed the High Cut filter so that it doesnt dist when input is to loud.

• Changed the attack time from max 100 ms to 300 ms.

• Changed the Peak meters so that it can display down to -60dB instead of -40dB

• Added a new function to reset knobs to default position by double clicking on the knob.

   ( Ctrl click still works)

• Corrected some bug so that fine adjust knobs by pressing your right mousekey while still holding down the left mousekey and

dragging, now works. (also you can use shift+leftmousekey and dragging for fine tune)

• Many more small fixes and tweaks.

Very smooth.

Instead of the 3 way button there's a knob to scan the envelope.

From Slow to Fast.

The numbers under that knob displays the attack time in ms.

I also added a 1ms latency delay. It just sounds better when using fast attack times.

I added an Opto compressor as a clickable option and it sounds fantastic... I think at least.

Many optimizations and I think it should show on the loading time. I hope. Maybe also on the cpu.

The 3way button that controls the VU still doesnt work with presets.

Sometimes the light goes off.... Its nothing hard in any way. I just forgot to fix it.

Low prio at this moment. But I will soon =) Its just that I have to redesign the whole thing.

This button is the only premade module I have in it and someone else made it. I was lazy. I will make a new one =)

It sounds fantastic. Especially on vocals and loops.

Great if you want to sound a bit like Portishead ;)

You know. The drum-loops they used were extremely compressed and that mixed with the

rest of the music made it sounds very nice. At least I likes it a lot.

This kind of compression is good on more then just that.

Vocals, Guitars, Bass, you name it.

It is also very easy to operate.

Set your Input Gain were you like it. The more gain in the more compression.

Select one of the three envelope speeds and finally adjust your Output Gain if needed.

It is built around a simulation of a tube and that "tube" controls the gain of the signal.

Remade the exciter. Not it sounds as I wanted it to.

Modified the PDR envelope. Before it could almost get stuck at extreme

compression. That is fixed.

Made my final VU meters. Cleaner graphics. Much nicer. ( I think.... )

Changed the Ratioknob so it works smoother and goes even higher.

It is know easier to control the ratio.

I have also changed the demo so that there is no more noise.

Apparently some users said it was to loud, and I cant agree more :)

It was ment to be but I understand if that can take the lust away.

Disabling the presets (inculdes automation and save&load) should be

enough limitation to the demo.

Very nice to get some highs on almost any material.

Finally got to fix the VUs.

Both Vus can be used in 3 different ways making it easy to set it up

2 ways as I see it now.

Either I sell it to a major company who can add it to their selection range.

Or.

I start selling it myself.... but this is not a fun way to go. I wishit would work but it just seems to hard

to make copy protection, serials, database over customers, updates and everything else simple.

I could sell it copy by copy via mail.

Could work like this.

Customer sends me a mail and pays in advance to a bank account.

New list for version 1.06.05.

° New PDR (Program Dependent Release) function. Adjusts the release time depending on

the gain of the dry signal.

When engaged the release knob will work more like a hold function.

This really makes it sound a lot better then before. Compression adjusts to the material and it sounds very musical.

° All VU meters can be turned off to save cpu. On my mac it saves about 1.2%

I think this is measured only on 1 of the cores or is it 2 ? My mac has 4 so and I dont

think it can save 1.2% of 4 cores. That would be absurd.

° Cpu usage cut by half. Much more efficient now.

Matti helped me with some code that saved a lot of cpu. THANKS Matti !

° Updated some components to match the latest build of Synthmaker. (1.08)

° Made the Digital display bigger. Going to have more info in it soon when i

have solved some mouse over problems.

° Added a simple Info window. Pretty basic so far but it can improve =)

° Much more has been improved but my memory is not so good ;)

The SatLim (saturated Limiter) is again changed. Now much more realistic and subtle. It gives you about 3dB extra gain. Maybe more. Havnt done any

1: Latency free. Zero latency unless you hit the LAH ( Look A Head) 3ms button Then it would be 3 milliseconds LAH. ;)

Its fully working but there's a noise coming and going at -40dB.

It has some amazing capabilities.

Can compress the shit out of anything. or be gentle.

I haven't really made any presets yet but if you make any, please mail them to me.

The Sidechain filters are quite nice. Especially the Bandpass which is a very audible filter.

Will have to use that in one of my other projects.

I still have some things to add. Mostly graphics. Need to make a lamp or two that will flash when you are in

"Listen" mode. Meaning listening to the Sidechain filters and not the real signal.

Also some new knobs. The small ones needs to be replaced.

If you have any cool ideas I would love to hear them.

Oh. Another thing.

Completely different.

I took some photographs today.

Found a ladybird on my way home and had to try and capture it.

Talk about feeling like a true nerd... on my knees in the grass....

Enjoy the pics. Good to use as desktop picture.

later.

Actually there are three different plugs + a Phaser on the way.

But these two are almost done.

Some graphics remains to be fixed.

The one named Paradium is a kind of soft distortion/exciter thing. Very very nice on guitars or drums.

The other one is a extremely nice compressor with built in sidechain control and ultrasoft knee to extreme knee.

Still very easy to use.

The third one is called "PsycoDad"..

Yeah. Right.

Eeh. Its a modified Exciter thing.

Basicly. Select a filter type. Distort it, Delay the dry sound by a number of samples. Blend in the filtered/distorted sound to your liking.

Adjust the stereowidth of the fx sound.

Maybe I will add an envelope follower to this. Not sure yet.

If you want to test a demo. Drop me a mail.

Any of the three can be tested but in return I would like some comments about them.

There are some things I cant seem to get right. Most important is that the cpu usage is to high.

I think I will wait until the application ( Synthmaker) is at version 2.x.

Instead I started making something else.

I took the EQ from Phaedra and made something that .

Well.

You be the judges.

Some explanations might be useful:

It is a 4 band EQ.

Every band has its own LFO that can be used to control either the Freq, Gain, Both or two big faders that

controls all the 4 bands Freq or Gain at the same time.

It sounds very nice just as an EQ but some really cool Phaser sounds can be made as well as some very nice

distorted sounds, especially for guitars and bass.

There's a beta for VST PC in the Fileshack.

Not sure which if any of those I will use for this project.

Maybe Ill make something else. Something more appropriate.

But.

The good news is I can. I can make them the way I want them.

Click the small image to get a bigger one.

You could also download the standalone .exe version of this build and try it

on your pc. It is quite Limited.

Only 1 osc, 1 lfo and 2 envelopes. Also the knobs are a bit to glossy. Going to make them nicer to look at.

It is getting closer and closer to a beta release. Then I would need some beta testers and preset programmers.

If your interested, drop me a mail.

Made a short demo song this morning.

Starts with a padish string sound.

Then a 80s bass and a sologlide sound.

Last in comes a keyboard/organ hybrid thing.

I added some of the soft saturation (found in the master section

next to the pan and gain)

to this keyboard and it sounds good.

Bounced the sologlide, keyboard and bass as separate files as well as a full mix version.

I should have bounced the pad-string too but i screwed up somehow. The bounced audio-file was nothing but a perfect line.

This time I have added no external fx at all. Only the internal fx in the synth. Theres a "chorus" thing, a nice temposynced delay

and a version of the Freeverb. I want to make this verb sound a little smoother but I havnt had the time for it yet.

No mastering, no cutting the bottom, Nothing. =)

And it still sounds pretty nice.

Enjoy

Still Alpha but many things has been improved.

Added the modwheel and pitch bend.

Each Oscillator has its own pitchbend settings so you can have 4 different pitch events at the same time.

Pretty nice for intro movie style sounds.

Also made a better Delay and the cpu usage is a bit lower.

A new synth.

Name: td Phaedra Named after one of the most important albums ever made... in the electronica genre that is.

Made 1974 by Tangerine Dream.

Here is an early alpha version for PC as a vst plugin. Needs a pretty new Pc.

Just drop it into your vst plugins folder.

Not only did I have to learn a bunch of new apps but I also had to do much of the work in Windows Xp. (yack)

Lucky me.. I recently got a new Mac-Pro 2.66 which runs either Mac OS X or Windows XP or Vista.

This has helped me a lot in designing and developing.

Not that I like to bitch but isn't Windows (any version) the worst Op-Sys there is?

Never the less, Im forced to use it. I wish these programs I use would be coded for Mac OS X as well.

I'll do some "name dropping" ;)

In windows I use an application called SynthEdit.

It is a great application that allows us to create software synthesizers and FX for the VST/pc format.

Its a bit early in version but has a very promising future.

I also use SynthMaker

It is a deeper program then SE and has a higher learning curve but it too seems to be a good bet for

the future.

SM also has the feature "save as ".exe" meaning not only can you save your builds as vstplugins but also as standalone apps. A very nice feature.

If you are at all interested in developing software instruments and effects for vst/pc and have not heard of these before.

Check them out.

Hmm.

I just realized that these 2 applications are the only 2 reasons for me to use Windows.

Well. That's not entirely true.

Maybe I play some games on it too.

Oh. Before I forget.

I also added a new page today.

the Portfolium

I will keep adding pictures of my work and I will also make another page for the sounds of the instruments I make. All in due time.
